Mike Wiegele Heli-Skiing, Blue River British Columbia

Fly or drive north into the Monashee Mountains to the community of Blue River (along the powder Highway 5), surrounded by the rugged Monashee Mountains, an all wheel drive and four seasons destination. The Blue River in British Columbia, Canada, forms a boundary between the Cariboo Mountains and the Shuswap Highland, a significant part of the wilderness surrounding Blue River, midway between the city of Kamloops and Jasper, the Yellowhead Pass.

Part of the world’s only inland temperate rainforest, and often referred to as that or the Interior Wet Belt. A unique ecosystem found in parts of eastern British Columbia, including areas like the Columbia Mountains and the Quesnel Highlands, is characterized by high precipitation, lush vegetation, and old-growth forests. The area receives significant snowfall in winter due to its high elevation and location, becoming a heavy and deep snowbelt. Annual snowfall in Blue River often exceeds several meters, contributing to the region’s unique ecological conditions. Champagne like powder with the depth of icewine
