From London, this ancient town of Bath in the county of Somerset in the South West of England is about a 3 hour train ride away. Walk through the towns ancient Celtic and Roman architecture of Aquae Sulis, a natural geothermal hot spring with complex Roman aqueducts for what was a sacred public Bath House.

Bath, England, has a rich spa history spanning over 2,000 years, rooted in its natural hot springs, the only ones in the UK. Aquae Sulis, meaning “the waters of Sulis,” was the Roman settlement established in Bath, England, around 43 AD, centered on its unique natural hot springs. The Romans, recognizing the geothermal springs as a divine gift, developed the site into a major bathing and religious complex, blending Roman engineering with local Celtic traditions. Unlike typical Roman settlements focused on military or administrative functions, Aquae Sulis was primarily a sanctuary for rest, healing, and pilgrimage. Its hot springs, the only ones in Britain, producing 1.3 million liters of water daily at 46°C (115°F), were the focal point.
